IM (intertwining materials) is a brand that values the depth created when materials intertwine. Different materials, textures, backgrounds, and sensations come together to form expressions that could not exist on their own. This way of thinking is embedded in the name IM.
My practice began with drawing, sculpture, and making objects by hand. Experiences such as diving in the ocean or being immersed in nature, moments of beauty and impermanence that are difficult to put into words, became the starting point of IM as a form of abstract expression.
I was drawn to abstraction because it allows space for interpretation. Something undefined invites each person to find their own meaning within it. Over time, I began to think about how art could move beyond being something only to look at, and instead become part of everyday life.
Questions like whether it resonates with intuition, blends naturally into personal style, or adds a subtle layer of expression to who you are led to the creation of the knit charms.
IM is not a knitwear brand. Each knit charm is created as an individual art piece. Each piece takes approximately five to eight hours to complete, and some require up to twelve hours. All patterns are original and never written down. I rely on memory, intuition, and the movement of my hands, which means no two pieces are ever exactly the same.
Handwork is central to IM. The tags are hand embroidered with beads, and all printed elements are finished by hand. In a world driven by convenience and efficiency, this approach may seem slow, but choosing to work with my hands is a belief I continue to trust.
IM will continue creating works where materials and expressions intertwine. I hope you experience these charms as art and discover the individuality and subtle differences that only handcraft can offer.
